We have received the following road closure notification from Highways England which will involve the full closure of the A47. Please take a look and prepare your journeys accordingly.
“Dear Sir / Madam
Better Journeys on Better Roads: 2017/18 Maintenance and Improvement Programme East
Highways England operates, maintains and modernises the strategic road network in the East of England. We are committed to making journeys more reliable and ensuring that the region’s roads are fit for now and for the future.
I am writing to let you know about the following upcoming works on the A47 between Longwater and Cringleford.
- Renewal of road markings, studs and lining
- Replacement of traffic signal control unit
- Renewal of road signs
- Repair and resurfacing of carriageway
Once completed the works will provide a better quality of carriageway, road signs and markings.
Traffic Restrictions
In order to carry out our work as quickly and safely as possible we will need to put in place some temporary traffic restrictions and diversions:
- Full closure of the A47 Norwich Southern Bypass from A47 / A1074 at Longwater to A47 / A11 roundabout at Cringleford from Friday 16 February until Thursday 1 March between 8:00pm and 6:00am on weekdays only.
- Full closure of the A47 slip roads at the A47 / A11 roundabout southwest of Norwich from Friday 2 March until Friday 9 March between 8:00pm and 6:00am on weekdays only.
We will endeavour to complete the works during the dates above, however, these are down to factors such as weather, so delays may occur.
For any residents living within the road closure and wishing to gain access to their homes during our working times, an escort will be provided to ensure safe access to your property but delays may be experienced until we can arrange a safe route through the works area. Please use this letter as proof of your residence so that our traffic management operatives are aware of your need to pass through the closure.
