Ownership of streetlights in Cringleford is currently split between Cringleford Parish Council, Norfolk County Council and developers. A lot of the streetlights owned by the parish council are reaching the end of their natural life expectancy. As such Councillors recently agreed to change the majority of these lights to LED lights, over a two year period. LED lights are up to 80% more efficient than traditional lighting and 95% of the energy in LEDs is converted into light and only 5% is wasted as heat. Less energy use reduces the demand from power plants and decreases greenhouse gas emissions.
The project will be split in to three tranches of twenty streetlights and excitingly this starts TODAY! The first roads to receive the new lights will be Brettingham Avenue, Kedlestone Drive, Langley Close and Taylor Avenue. This area has been chosen because of the existing issues with the power supply to the old lights, which has been ongoing since December.
Please contact the Parish Clerk if you have any questions regarding this.
